Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi entered the affordable flagship game with the Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro, launched in China in April 2019 . Both devices use the same design, the main difference between the two is the SoC used. Redmi K20 Pro is the real flagship killer, equipped with flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC; and Redmi K20 has achieved a balance between performance and affordability by choosing Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 SoC. After half a year, Xiaomi hopes to balance the affordability and performance again with the new Redmi K30, which has now been launched in China.

The company itself said the Redmi K30 5G will be its first smartphone back to October 2019 . Redmi K30: Processor
One of the main highlights of the Redmi K30 5G is the internal Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G SoC, which makes it the first phone to be released on the platform. The Snapdragon 5G on the Redmi K765 30G is equipped with a main CPU core, clocked at 2.4GHz, supplemented by a Performance CPU core, clocked at 2.2GHz. Both are based on the custom Kryo 475 architecture, while the Kryo 76 architecture is derived from the ARM Cortex-A6 design. There are 55 efficiency cores based on ARM Cortex-A1, making the configuration of the SoC to 1 + 6 + 2, while the earlier SoCs such as Snapdragon 6 have a configuration of 730 +8. Snapdragon 765G also integrates a 5G modem on the chip, which reduces power consumption. Redmi K30 5G has dual-mode 5G and supports both SA and NSA networks. The device also supports 5G MultiLink-essentially allowing users to connect to 2.4GHz WiFi, 5GHz WiFi and 5G / 4G networks simultaneously.

Redmi K30 5G is also Xiaomi’s first smartphone with a 120Hz high refresh rate display. As the name implies, a 120Hz display displays twice as many images per second as a normal 60Hz display. This greatly enhances the user experience. The device dynamically adjusts the frame rate between 60Hz, 90Hz and 120Hz based on the application and use case to balance user experience and power consumption. The Redmi K30 5G also has a 91% screen-to-body ratio, thanks to the punched design used by the dual front-facing camera.

The Redmi K30 5G is also the first smartphone to use Sony’s new 64MP sensor, the Sony IMX686 . The IMX686 comes with a large 1 / 1.7-inch sensor and 0.8μm pixels. The sensor can output 64MP images, but the normal camera mode will use pixel merging to merge four pixels into a 16MP, 1.6μm pixel image. There are three other cameras next to the 64MP main camera: an ultra-wide-angle camera, a depth-of-field camera, and a dedicated macro camera. On the front, you get a 20MP main camera and a secondary camera for depth sensing.
Redmi K30 5G continues to pack more features as it is equipped with a large 30 mAh battery with 4,500W fast charging support. 5G and high refresh rate displays will definitely consume a lot of juice throughout the day, so it will be convenient to have a large capacity battery and quickly replenish moisture. The phone also has a fingerprint scanner integrated in the power button and retains some classic features such as a 3.5mm headphone jack and IR Blaster.
The Redmi K30 also comes with a 4G variant , which has many of the same features. The main differences are the lack of 5G (of course), switching to Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G, 2MP dedicated macro camera instead of 5MP macro camera, fast charging down to 27W and lack of dual-frequency GPS.
Pricing and availability
The Redmi K30 5G and Redmi K30 4G are available in four RAM and storage versions.
Redmi K30 4G will be available in blue, red and purple; 5G variants will get additional white variants. Both devices will be available soon in China. We want the K30 to enter the international market, but keep in mind that pricing will be different from Chinese pricing.

Since everyone now seems to be hyping up their display and refresh rate technology, Redmi doesn’t want to be left behind. General Manager Mr. Lu Weibing Redmi shared a video on the microblogging show the 144Hz refresh rate Redmi K30 5G test.
Mr. Weibing mentioned that the device is being tested at a 144Hz refresh rate, but this does not necessarily mean that the technology will definitely enter the sight of end users. The end result may not be worth the trade-off, so the feature may not reach end users. Nevertheless, the demonstration proved that the device has 144Hz capability. Maybe we can enable the feature ourselves, just like we use Redmi K20?
